About Pine Trace
Pine Trace Golf Club is an 18-hole Arthur Hills designed course, located on 193 wooded acres in the Oakland County suburb of Rochester Hills. It is often compared to a Northern Michigan golf course and is consistently rated as one of the top 20 public golf courses in Michigan.
Position Requirements
The golf course superintendent reports directly to the owner, and will oversee all activities related to the maintenance of the golf course and grounds. Other job duties include but are not limited to:
Plan all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the agreed upon maintenance standards and long-range goals
Oversee planting, fertilizing, and chemical applications
Supervise maintenance and operation of irrigation systems
Maintain inventory of chemicals, fertilizer, and equipment
Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff and understand of how their actions impact the golf course and the customer’s experience
Create schedules in line with budgetary and agronomic goals
Consistently communicate with the owner and other management staff to discuss activities, goals, and customer feedback
Purchase equipment and supplies necessary to maintain the golf course
Approve all golf course budgeted expenditures and exercise cost control measures to keep operating and capital expenses in line with approved budgets
Keep accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, fuel usage, and inventory
Qualifications, Knowledge, & Skill Requirements
4-5 years of turf grass management experience
2 or 4-year turf grass management degree
Current State of Michigan certification as a pesticide applicator in categories 3A and 3B, or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire
GCSAA Member preferred, but not required
Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management practices, disease and pest identification, application of plant protectants, and irrigation systems operation and maintenance
Valid driver’s license & acceptable driving record
Strong business aptitude, with knowledge of budgeting and expense management
Basic computer skills, including knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
Highly organized and efficient, with a high attention to detail
Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations

Compensation
$80,000, Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in region
