Sakonnet Golf Club - Assistant Superintendent

Position: Assistant Superintendent
Facility: Sakonnet Golf Club
Location: Little Compton, RI

Sakonnet Golf Club is a private, 18-hole golf course that was built in 1898 and designed by legendary architect, Donald Ross. The club averages 9,000 rounds annually with the majority falling between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Sakonnet Golf Club is located in the seaside community of Little Compton, Rhode Island.  

Assistant Superintendents will work closely with Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of golf course management. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Application/Recording of chemical and fertilizer applications

• Hand watering 

• Irrigation scheduling and repair

• Crew supervision and leadership

• Small project supervision, planning, and completion

• Course set up

• Heavy Equipment Operation

• Versatile skillset, operating all equipment and able to perform all tasks on the golf course. Training someone on a task/piece of equipment without the knowledge themselves is unacceptable

Extended hours are to be expected during the growing season (April - October), and a more flexible work schedule during the winter months.

Educational Requirements

Preferred Certificate or Agronomy/Turf Management Degree but not required

Work Experience

Minimum of 3 years of golf course experience required

Special Requirements

• Character, self motivation, being a team player, and drive to succeed within the turf industry succeed any golf course knowledge and/or experience.

• Must be able to obtain Rhode Island Spray License.

Salary and Benefits

• $50,000 - $60,000 annual salary
